OPEN seal under the rim

Tamper-evident buckets

On its way from filling to the end customer, a bucket passes through a warehouse, a truck, a wholesaler, and a store counter. Anyone along the way could lift the lid. That's why our food-grade buckets have a tear-off seal with the raised word OPEN under the rim. While the seal is intact, no one has touched the product since filling. To remove the lid for the first time, you have to tear the seal off. Every size from 560 ml to 21 L has this protection, in both white and clear versions.

How it works

Four details that make a bucket tamper-evident

Tamper evidence needs no extra seals, no shrink bands, and no separate step on your line. It's built into the bucket and lid design, so you just close the bucket as usual. Here is what makes up this protection and why both sellers and buyers trust it.

Lid seated in a double rim

The flat lid seats into the bucket's double rim and grips all the way around. There's only one way to remove it the first time: tear off the seal under the rim. So any opening, even a quick look inside, leaves a trace. Because the lid is flat, you can stack full buckets in the warehouse and on the store shelf.

Raised lettering

The word OPEN on the seal is molded in relief, not printed. It needs no separate printing step and doesn't wear off during washing or shipping. Buyers know right away where to pull, even if they're holding this kind of bucket for the first time. The word needs no translation for a buyer in Bishkek or in Almaty.

Check at a glance

Storekeepers, sellers, and buyers don't need a knife or a magnifying glass: if the seal is in place, the bucket hasn't been opened. A torn seal is visible from a distance, so when you receive a pallet, you can spot opened buckets without moving them. With hundreds of buckets in an order, this speeds up receiving considerably.

Fewer product disputes

When a customer complains about short weight or a foreign object, the seal is the first thing to check. An intact seal clears the carrier and the seller; a torn one shows where to look for the cause. For a manufacturer, it's a strong argument in talks with a retail chain.

Who checks the seal and where

Every bucket is one seal that someone checks on the way to the buyer. For each size, the table shows how many buckets (and seals) come on one pallet and who usually checks the seal first. The "brim-full" column is a reminder: fill to nominal capacity. The headspace under the lid lets it seat evenly in the double rim and keeps product away from the seal.

The smaller the bucket, the closer the seal is to the end customer: on 1 L and 560 ml buckets, it works right at the counter. On large sizes, it's checked earlier, when the order is received, with 600-800 buckets on a pallet and no time to open each one. In every case, the check takes a second and needs no tools. With honey and caviar, where a bucket of product is expensive, buyers check the seal especially closely.

From counter to receiving dock: a seal on every size

On a 1 L bucket, the shopper at the counter sees the OPEN seal; on a 21 L bucket, the person receiving the order does. Click who's checking: the calculator shows the bucket, its top diameter, the headspace to the brim, and how many buckets (and seals) come on a pallet.

Where it matters most

When tamper evidence makes the difference

Every bucket has the OPEN seal, but in some supply chains it's a nice extra, while in others it's the buyer's main requirement. Here are the situations where you should show it to customers as a distinct advantage of your packaging. A short line on the label, "Check the OPEN seal before you buy," adds trust to your product at almost no cost.

1Premium products at retail (honey, caviar, nuts): with a 1 L bucket, the shopper can see that no one removed the lid before them.1 L bucket
2Long chain of middlemen: the bucket passes through a wholesaler's warehouse, a bazaar reseller, and a store, and at every step you can see whether it was opened.
3Home delivery orders: a courier can't secretly open the bucket, and the customer gets the product exactly as it was sealed at filling. For farm product delivery, this is part of your promise to the customer.
4Paint and construction mixes on the shelf: the buyer knows no one tested the shade with a finger or left the lid ajar.
5Bulk deliveries in 21 L buckets: the receiver sets aside opened buckets right away and doesn't argue over the weight of each one.21 L bucket

Logistics

The seal works in transit too

We ship empty buckets from the factory nested inside each other, with lids included. The seal starts working once you close a filled bucket. You can pick up pallets from the factory warehouse in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Ak-Chiy village. In Bishkek and the Chuy Region, we deliver with our own trucks; to Osh, Jalal-Abad, Karakol, Naryn, and Talas, we ship via a freight carrier. For packers and wholesalers in Kazakhstan, we deliver pallets to Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, and Karaganda within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Our sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place your order. When you ship finished product to your customers, an intact seal on every bucket confirms the load wasn't opened in transit.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about tamper evidence

Didn't find your answer?A sales manager replies Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Bishkek time

Under the bucket rim, there's a tear-off seal with the raised word OPEN. To remove the lid for the first time, you have to tear it off. As long as the seal is in place, the bucket hasn't been opened since filling. It's equally easy to see on white and clear buckets.

Yes. The lid fits back into the rim, and you can open and close the bucket as often as you like. But the seal can't be put back, so the next person who picks up the bucket will see it has already been opened.

All our food-grade buckets from 560 ml to 21 L, in both white and clear versions. You don't need to choose a special model: the seal is part of the design.

The seal shows first opening on its own, so for most products it's enough. Add extra protection only if your customer requires it, for example, a retail chain with its own receiving rules. Check those rules in advance, and our sales manager will suggest how to meet them with our packaging.

The seal is built into every food-grade bucket; you don't order it as a separate option. Your sales manager quotes the order price based on size, quantity, handle, and decoration: call +996 222 600 292.

Yes. For small orders, a label on the finished bucket works well. For large volumes, use in-mold labeling (IML): the label is fused into the wall during molding. Decoration doesn't affect how the seal works.

Yes, by the pallet within the EAEU: to Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda, and other cities. Our sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place your order. The seal starts working once you close a filled bucket, so shipping empty buckets doesn't affect it.

Buckets with the OPEN tear strip in the HTI catalog

Every food-grade bucket in our catalog comes with tamper evidence, so you only choose the size, handle, and color. To make your brand as easy to recognize as an intact seal, check out IML-printed buckets. The seal works the same with any handle, from a light plastic one to a metal bail handle with a plastic grip.

Getting returns or weight disputes ?

Tell us who handles your product on its way to the buyer and where complaints come up. Our sales manager will suggest the size where the seal is most visible to your customer and estimate your order. If you sell through bazaars and stores at the same time, we'll find packaging that works for both channels. Send photos of returns or complaints too: they make it easier to see at what stage the bucket gets opened.
