Plastic jerry cans for water
Jerry cans in 5 and 10 L sizes for taking drinking water where there's no tap: to the dacha, the jailoo (summer pastures), a mountain camp, a construction site, or a remote work camp. The neck closes with a screw cap that keeps dust out, the handle is molded as one piece with the body, and the rectangular shape won't roll around in a truck bed. We make the jerry cans in Bishkek and sell them wholesale across Kyrgyzstan and to Kazakhstan: to stores, work crews, and water bottlers.

A liter of water weighs a kilogram, plus the weight of the jerry can itself: 240 g for the five-liter and 420 g for the ten-liter. Which jerry can to choose for water
First decide who will carry the water and how far. Then work out the supply you need in liters and divide it by the jerry can size, adding one spare. For a store, it's the other way around: watch what customers ask for and keep both sizes on the shelf. The points below cover the rest.
1If the water is carried by hand along a trail or split among backpacks, take the 5 L jerry can: full, it weighs just over 5 kg.5 L jerry can

3Reserve jerry cans for drinking water only and label them. Never use containers that once held antifreeze, oil, or household chemicals for drinking water.
4Before the first fill, rinse the jerry can with clean water and let it drain. Repeat every time you get back from a trip.
5A white body heats up less in the sun than a dark one, but keep a full jerry can in the shade anyway: under an awning, in a tent, or under a car seat.

How much your water supply weighs
A liter of water weighs a kilogram and ten liters weigh ten kilograms, so the math is simple, but people often forget the weight of the containers themselves. The table shows sample supplies for different scenarios: how many jerry cans you'll need, the total weight including the empty cans, and how many fit on a pallet for wholesale orders.

Five-liter cans are handier when water is carried by hand or spread across several spots. Ten-liter cans are more economical for a stationary supply: 42 g of packaging per liter versus 48 g, and half as many cans for the same volume, which means fewer caps and less washing. For a water bottler, the pallet decides it: 900 liters in the smaller cans versus 1,000 in the larger ones.
Where you need to bring water
Dacha, mountains, job site, and work camp
Kyrgyzstan has plenty of places where the nearest tap is far away and the water in the irrigation ditch (aryk) is only good for watering plants. People bring drinking water with them, and a jerry can becomes as much a tool as a shovel or a tent. Below are the four situations where it's used most often, and what matters to the buyer in each.
Dacha and garden
In many garden communities outside Bishkek, water runs on a schedule and is only good for irrigation. Families bring drinking water from the city in ten-liter jerry cans: three cover a weekend, and the flat sides let them stand snugly in the trunk. During the week, the empties stay out of the way in the shed until the next trip.
Jailoo and mountains
Shepherds on the summer pastures of Naryn and Suusamyr and hikers at Son-Kul and Ala-Kul take five-liter jerry cans. They're easier to spread across bags and pack loads, and the screw cap keeps water from sloshing out on dirt roads. A teenager can carry five kilograms of water from the car to the yurt alone.
Construction sites and crews
On a site with no water hookup, drinking water is kept separate from non-potable water. The closed neck protects it from dust and cement particles, and the one-piece handle with no screws or rivets holds up to daily use. The foreman hands out the right number of jerry cans to the crew in the morning and checks how many came back in the evening.
Work camps and field camps
Geologists, road crews, and remote work camps get water delivered in batches. Ten-liter jerry cans are easy to hand out to crews and collect when empty, and their rectangular shape fills a truck bed with no gaps. It's easy to write a crew or section number on each jerry can with a marker.

Outdoor gear stores, hardware shops, and water bottlers pick up jerry cans by the pallet from the factory warehouse in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Ak-Chiy village. We deliver across Bishkek and Chuy Region with our own trucks. Orders for Naryn, Karakol, Talas, Osh, and Jalal-Abad go through a freight carrier, and it's best to get stock out to the regions well before the summer pasture season. For buyers in Kazakhstan, including Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, and Shymkent, we ship pallets within the EAEU. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order. One pallet holds 900 or 1,000 liters of future water supply, so small stores can save by pooling orders with neighboring shops.

Five liters. You can carry it in one hand or put it in a backpack or saddlebag, and a group's supply can be split among several people. Take the ten-liter when you can drive right up to your campsite, say on the shore of Issyk-Kul or at a campground in Chong-Kemin.
Before the first fill, rinse it several times with clean water and let it drain. Store it separately and never use it for other liquids, even temporarily: one jerry can, one job. Rinse the cap too, since dirt builds up in the threads.

You can also pick up the packaging yourself from our warehouse in Ak-Chiy village if your truck is heading to Bishkek anyway.
The standard color is white; you can discuss other body colors with your sales manager when you order. For water, white is actually a plus: a light wall heats up less in the sun, and dirt on the outside shows right away, so the can gets washed promptly. To avoid mixing it up with cans for non-drinking liquids, mark it or add a label.
Wash them, dry them, and store them with the cap off so no moisture stays inside. Before your next trip, rinse them again and fill with fresh water, and don't keep old water for months.
