Large buckets

11.5 L vs 15 L bucket: your hands or your truck

On a pallet these buckets take up the same space: 816 each, with almost equal diameters of 295 and 303 mm. The 15-liter bucket is 58 mm taller and holds 3.5 liters more. Your choice does not change the number of pallets in an order; it changes the liters on each pallet and the weight of the bucket in your hands. On top of that, the 11.5 liter bucket has the lowest plastic use per liter of product in the entire range. Here is how to tell which argument carries more weight in your business.

11.5 L and 15 L: a table of differences

This table brings together product page data and calculations for a fill to the nominal capacity. Product weights are based on sour cream (about 1.0 kg/L), pickles in brine (about 1.05 kg/L) and honey (about 1.42 kg/L). The last row shows the empty packaging weight of one pallet.

The pallet quantity is the same, but 15 liter buckets give 2,856 more liters per pallet, roughly 30% more. In return, each bucket carries 143 g more plastic and, filled with honey, weighs almost 5 kg more. The 11.5 liter bucket wins by being easier to lift and by using less raw material per liter than any other bucket.

How much product each one holds

Choose a product and a monthly volume - we will compare net weight, pieces per tonne, liters per pallet and how many pallets each item needs per month. Calculated on nominal capacity and the product weight per liter from our selection pages.

58 mm of height: four consequences

When two buckets fit on a pallet the same way, it seems the only difference is the volume. In practice, body height affects the weight in your hands, truck loading, plastic use and how the bucket works in a kitchen or on a site.

Finishing work on site15 liters: 3.5 liters more on the same pallet footprint
Weight in hand

Filled with honey, the 11.5 liter bucket weighs about 16.3 kg and the 15 liter one about 21.3 kg. If the bucket is lifted onto a table or carried between floors, the extra 5 kg is felt with every lift. Both have a plastic grip that spares your palm, but it does not make the total weight any lower.

Liters per truck

A pallet takes 816 buckets of either size. So with the same number of pallets, a truck of 15 liter buckets carries 2,856 more liters of product on every pallet. For long-distance deliveries, such as to Kazakhstan, that is a strong argument.

Raw material savings

The 11.5 liter bucket uses 26.7 g of plastic per liter of product, less than any other HTI bucket. The 15 liter one uses 30.0 g. For every 100,000 liters packed, the difference comes to about 330 kg of raw material.

Working height

The 11.5 liter body is shorter: 234 mm versus 292. This bucket is easier to slide under the bottom shelf of a rack or put on a hand truck, and a shallow bucket is easier to scrape clean.

The verdict

Who needs 11.5 L and who needs 15 L

If people often lift and carry the bucket, go for 11.5 liters. If freight and the number of trips are your main costs, go for 15 liters. Typical cases:

  • Sour cream and cottage cheese for cafés and canteens - 11.5 liters: about 11.5 kg of sour cream in a low body that fits a cold room shelf.
  • Paint and ready-mixed putty for DIY stores - 15 liters: more liters on every pallet.
  • Bulk honey carried by hand from the extractor - 11.5 liters: about 16.3 kg instead of 21.3.
  • Pickles and sauerkraut for canteens supplied from far away - 15 liters: about 15.8 kg with brine and 12,240 liters per pallet.
  • Need an even wider container? See the comparison 15 or 18 liters.

Full specifications are on the 11.5 liter bucket and 15 liter bucket pages. For an overview of all large sizes, see the large buckets section.

816 buckets per pallet: how they get to you

Both sizes come 816 to a pallet, so you can swap one for the other without recalculating pallets; only the volume of the order in liters changes. Pallets are released from the plant warehouse in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone, Ak-Chiy village, and you can collect them with your own transport. We deliver ourselves within Bishkek and across the Chuy Region, and ship to Karakol, Balykchy, Osh, Jalal-Abad and Talas via a freight carrier. For customers in Kazakhstan, pallets travel within the EAEU to Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Pavlodar, Karaganda and other cities. Our sales manager will confirm freight time and cost when you place an order.

Answering your questions about 11.5 L and 15 L

Didn't find your answer? Our sales managers are available Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Bishkek time

Yes, both come 816 to a pallet: the diameters are almost equal, 295 and 303 mm. So a pallet of 15 liter buckets carries 12,240 liters of product, and a pallet of 11.5 liter buckets 9,384.

The 11.5 liter one, both empty (307 g versus 450 g) and full: with honey, about 16.3 kg versus 21.3 kg. Both have a plastic grip on the metal bail handle.

About 11.5 and 15 kg of sour cream, and about 12.1 and 15.8 kg of pickles in brine. Headspace of about 1.1 and 1.6 liters remains below the brim and is left unfilled.

The figures say so: 307 g of packaging for a nominal 11.5 liters comes to 26.7 g per liter. No other bucket in the range does better: the 15 liter one uses 30.0 g and the 21 liter one 29.5 g.

There is no fixed price list: our sales manager prices each order by quantity, color and branding. Call +996 222 600 292 and ask for a quote on both sizes at once to compare the cost per liter packed.

Lead time and cost depend on the destination and order size; our sales manager quotes them when you place an order. Buckets go to Osh via a freight carrier and to Kazakhstan by the pallet within the EAEU.

Yes. A label is applied to the finished bucket, while IML fuses the image into the wall during molding, so it does not rub off or peel when washed. The tall 15 liter body offers more room for a logo.
