PVA and wallpaper adhesive

Plastic buckets for glue

With glue, the bucket is more than packaging: it's a working container. People dip into it with a brush, roller, or notched trowel and put the lid back on what's left until the next day. For PVA, ready-mixed wallpaper adhesive, dispersion tile adhesive, and wood glue, HTI Group molds buckets from 1 to 21 L in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ). The lid seats in a double rim to keep the glue from skinning over, and the OPEN tamper-evident tear strip shows the store that the bucket hasn't been opened before reaching the customer.

Glue and tools

Which glue in which bucket

People dip different tools into glue, and the tool determines how wide the bucket's opening needs to be. A PVA brush fits through any opening, a wallpaper roller needs room, and a notched tile trowel has to lie almost flat in the bucket. The table matches each size to the type of glue, the tool, and the buyer who usually picks that pack size.

The thicker the glue and the wider the tool, the wider the top needs to be: from 132.5 mm on the one-liter bucket to 332 mm on the 21 L. PVA and wood glue are packed small because they're used a little at a time, and an opened bucket shouldn't sit on the workbench for weeks. Tile adhesive is used up within a shift, so it's bought in large sizes. A manufacturer that sells glue in two formats usually needs two or three adjacent sizes, not the whole range.

What matters for glue

Glue is fussier than paint

Glue sets on contact with air, sticks to the rim, and can seal the lid shut for good if the packaging is wrong. Customers remember that, and next time at the building supply market they'll pick another brand. Below are four situations where the bucket either keeps the glue usable down to the last stroke or ruins the product.

No skin on top

The lid seats in the double rim and seals the bucket all the way around. An opened bucket of wood glue gets closed at the end of the shift, and in the morning there's no dried layer under the lid to cut away with a knife. Wipe drips off the rim with a brush before closing, and the lid will come off easily later.

Thin PVA on the road

Diluted PVA and primer-adhesive flow almost like water, so they're kept strictly upright in transit. A flat-bottomed bucket stands steady in a box and on a pallet, and the lid seats in the double rim instead of just resting on top. Formulas that are poured rather than scooped are easier to pack in 5 and 10 L jerry cans.

The wallpaper store shelf

Ready-mixed wallpaper adhesive is often bought along with the rolls, and the store needs to know that no one has opened a bucket on the shelf to test it. The OPEN tear strip under the rim tears off the first time the lid is removed. If it's intact, the customer knows they're getting a full bucket of glue that has never been exposed to air.

Coverage and curing time on the side

On a glue bucket, buyers look for three things: which materials the product is for, how much it takes per square meter, and how long to wait before it can bear weight. In-mold labeling (IML) fuses this information into the wall during molding, so glue running down the side won't wash it off. For a trial batch of a new glue, a paper label is enough.

Glue tool

Which glue in which bucket

PVA is applied with a brush, wallpaper adhesive with a roller, and tile adhesive with a notched trowel. The tool determines the opening width; the buyer determines the size. Select a glue type to see the bucket, the tool used with it, and who buys it.

How to choose

A bucket range for every type of glue

Glue makers rarely produce just one product: usually it's a family of all-purpose PVA, wood glue, wallpaper adhesive, and flooring adhesive. Ideally, each one gets its own pack size while you keep only a few different buckets in stock. Here's a lineup to start from.

1PVA for homes, schools, and offices: 1 L with a plastic handle; for handing out to offices and classrooms, 800 ml is enough.800 ml bucket1 L bucket
2Wood glue for workshops: 2.3 L or 3 L, a bucket that sits on the workbench without crowding out the workpieces.2.3 L bucket
3Ready-mixed wallpaper adhesive: 5.6 L for one room, 8 L for finishing contractors who paper an entire apartment.5.6 L bucket
4Linoleum and tile adhesive: 11.5, 15, or 21 L with a metal bail handle and plastic grip.11.5 L bucket21 L bucket
5Don't pack contact cements or other solvent-based adhesives in polypropylene without testing: confirm compatibility with a trial run of your own formula.

Logistics

Supply for glue manufacturers

A glue plant usually packs several products, so it makes sense to receive buckets as a mixed order: one-liter, five-liter, and fifteen-liter buckets on a single truck. Empty packaging stands in nested stacks, so even several pallets won't crowd finished goods out of your warehouse. You can pick up your order from our factory warehouse in the Bishkek FEZ, Ak-Chiy village. Our own delivery trucks bring buckets to customers in Bishkek and Chuy Region, and a freight carrier takes them to Osh, Jalal-Abad, Talas, Naryn, and Karakol. For glue manufacturers in Almaty, Shymkent, Astana, and Karaganda, we ship by the pallet within the EAEU. Your sales manager confirms delivery times and costs when you place the order.

Frequently asked questions about glue buckets

For retail and schools, 1 L or 800 ml; for workshops and construction sites, 2.3 to 3.8 L. PVA is used a little at a time, so a small size gets used up while the glue is still fresh. After each use, the same lid goes back on.

The buckets are molded from polypropylene and are most often used for water-based dispersion adhesives: PVA, wallpaper, tile, and flooring adhesives. Test solvent-based formulas on a trial batch first: compatibility depends on the formula, and confirming it is up to your own technologist.

The 5.6 L suits shoppers papering one or two rooms, and the 8 L suits finishing contractors. A roller fits through the 224 and 276 mm openings, so the adhesive can be applied straight from the bucket. It's worth stating on the side which wallcoverings the product is for: non-woven, fiberglass, or vinyl.

Our sales manager prices your order based on size, quantity, handle type, and printing. Call +996 222 600 292 and list the products in your line, and we'll quote packaging for all of them at once.

Yes, with a label or IML. With IML, the image is fused into the wall during molding, so glue drips and dirt wipe off with a rag while the print stays put. Learn more on our IML printing page.

Yes, by the pallet within the EAEU: to Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda, and other cities. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order. One pallet holds 6,480 one-liter buckets or 816 of the 15 L.

The 11.5, 15, and 21 L buckets have a metal bail handle with a plastic grip, so it won't dig into your palm when you carry a full bucket up the stairs. One-liter PVA buckets get a plastic handle, and on the 2.3 L you can choose metal or plastic.
