Field, farm, and orchard

Packaging for agribusinesses and farmers

A farm needs packaging all year. In spring, it holds drinking water for crews and greenhouse solutions. In summer, it's for berry picking and crop delivery. In fall and winter, it holds feed, premixes, and dairy products for the bazaar. HTI makes 5 and 10 L jerry cans and 1 to 21 L buckets with lids, metal bail handles, and plastic grips. Farms in the Chuy Valley, Issyk-Kul, Talas, and southern Kyrgyzstan order it all in one shipment from the factory. So do farmers in Kazakhstan.

Farm operations

From the field camp to feed storage

Farms buy packaging by operation, not by product. The table lists tasks found on almost any farm, from a family farm to a large agricultural holding. Use the last column for planning: it shows how many units come on one pallet when you buy for the whole season at once.

Compare the 11.5 L and 15 L buckets. Both ship 816 per pallet, but a pallet of 15 L buckets gives you 12,240 liters of capacity versus 9,384. For feed or pellets, the 15 L bucket is the more efficient choice. A pallet of 10 L jerry cans holds 1,000 liters of water, and a pallet of 5 L cans holds 900. The larger can is more efficient at a field camp, and the smaller one is easier when water is carried by hand.

Farm kit

Spring, berries, feed: a packaging set for the season

Farms need packaging in waves: jerry cans when fieldwork starts, buckets for berry picking, and large sizes for feed. Pick a season, and the calculator marks the operations you need and counts pallets, units, and trucks.

How to buy for the season

    Packaging by the farm calendar

Farms need packaging in waves, so buy it before work starts, not in the middle of the harvest. Many farmers have tested this buying schedule over several seasons.

1Early spring: jerry cans. Crews need drinking water and the greenhouse needs solutions from the first day in the field.
2By the start of berry season: 5.6 L buckets for the field and 11.5 L buckets for delivery, two per picker. One is in use, and the other waits at the end of the row.5.6 L bucket11.5 L bucket
3By fall: buckets with metal handles in 18-21 L sizes for winter feed and premixes.21 L bucket
4Dairy farms: 1-3 L buckets with an OPEN tamper-evident tear strip for sour cream and cottage cheese at the bazaar. Learn more on our dairy packaging page.1 L bucket3 L bucket
5Farm brand: put your farm name and phone number on the bucket wall with in-mold labeling (IML). Shoppers at the bazaar remember the farm, not the stall.

    The farm season

    Water, harvest, feed, and fertilizers

A farm rarely buys just one item. It needs packaging for water, crops, and feed at the same time. The people who use it have no time to figure out what went into which can yesterday. So the main farm rule is simple: each task gets its own cans and buckets, and they never mix.

Crews take drinking water in jerry cans to haymaking, remote fields, and the jailoo (summer pastures). The cap screws on, the handle is molded in one piece with the body, and the rectangular sides keep the can from rolling around the truck bed. To calculate a crew's water supply, see our water jerry cans page.

    Harvest and delivery

Strawberries and raspberries in the Chuy Valley, sea buckthorn at Issyk-Kul, and apricots in Batken are picked into small buckets that a picker holds in one hand. For delivery to the buyer, berries go into 11.5 L buckets with lids. You close them right in the field, so the crop doesn't collect dust from dirt roads in the truck bed.

    Feed and premixes

Premixes and mineral supplements arrive in sacks, but for daily use it's easier to scoop them into an 18 or 21 L bucket with a lid. At feeding time, the bucket works as a consistent measure. The closed lid keeps the rest safe from damp and barn dust. The bail handle with plastic grip won't cut into your palm when you carry buckets around the farm several times a day.

    Keep fertilizer away from food

Set aside separate jerry cans and buckets for liquid fertilizers, growth stimulants, and technical fluids. Label them on the flat panel or wall. Never reuse packaging that held fertilizer solution for water, milk, or berries, even after washing. That way, neither you nor your customers will have any questions.

    Logistics

Packaging delivered to your farm in villages across Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan

Most farms are far from town, so it pays to order for the whole season and bring everything in one trip. Empty buckets nest inside each other, and jerry cans ship as separate packages. Your sales manager will build a mixed order that fits in one truck. Farms in Chuy Region get packaging from our own delivery trucks or pick it up from the factory warehouse in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Ak-Chiy village. We ship to Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Talas, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken via freight carrier. Farmers in the Almaty, Zhambyl, and Turkestan regions of Kazakhstan receive packaging by the pallet within the EAEU. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost to your village when you place the order.

    Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about packaging for farmers

Didn't find your answer?A sales manager replies Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Bishkek time

We don't recommend it. Split your packaging by task once and for all: feed and fertilizer buckets stay in the farmyard, and food-grade buckets are for milk, berries, and preserves. The easiest way to tell them apart is by size or a label on the wall.

For a stationary supply, choose 10 L. A pallet holds 100 cans, or 1,000 liters of capacity. The 5 L cans are handier if you carry water to plots by hand or take it by horse to the jailoo.

In the field, a 5.6 L bucket is easy to work with: it's light and fits in one hand. For delivery to the buyer or to market, farmers use 11.5 L buckets with a lid and a bail handle with plastic grip.

Yes, these are food-grade polypropylene buckets. For the bazaar, farmers choose 1-3 L sizes. An OPEN tamper-evident tear strip under the lid rim shows the buyer that the bucket hasn't been opened since filling.

Your sales manager calculates the price for your order. It depends on sizes, quantity, handle type, and printing. Tell us your land area, herd size, or expected harvest, and get an estimate for all your packaging for the season.

Yes, with a label on the finished bucket or with IML: the image is fused into the wall during molding and becomes part of the body. For a small farm, a label is the easier way to start.

Yes, by the pallet within the EAEU: to the Almaty, Zhambyl, Turkestan, and other regions. You can combine jerry cans and buckets in one shipment. When you place the order, your sales manager will tell you when the truck will reach you and how much delivery costs.

    Catalog

Jerry cans and buckets for farms in the catalog

Catalog pages list dimensions, empty weight, and units per pallet for each size. If your farm pickles and marinates its own vegetables, see our packaging for canneries page.

    Request

Not sure how much packaging you need for the season?

Tell us about your farm: how many hectares of berries you grow, how many head of livestock you keep, and whether you do your own processing. Your sales manager will break down your purchase by operation and month and count the pallets.
