Condensed milk and dulce de leche

Buckets for condensed milk and dulce de leche

Condensed milk is heavier and thicker than almost any other dairy product: a liter weighs about 1.3 kg, and dulce de leche is closer to a paste than a sauce. Pastry chefs find it easier to scoop from a bucket than to open dozens of tin cans, and retailers can sell single portions under a lid with an OPEN tamper-evident tear strip. The HTI plant molds these buckets from 560 ml to 21 L in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ) and ships them across Kyrgyzstan and to Kazakhstan.

Pastry chefs are used to counting condensed milk in 380 g cans. This tool converts a bucket into cans: a liter of condensed milk weighs about 1.3 kg, and the rest is simple math. The "By weight" tab shows the net and gross weight, and the "Order" tab shows how many buckets and pallets your shop needs per month.

How many cans of condensed milk one bucket replaces

Pastry shops and cafes often buy condensed milk in the familiar 380 g tin cans, then waste time opening each one and scraping out the corners. The table shows how much condensed milk each bucket holds at a density of about 1.3 kg/L and how many of those cans it replaces. Weights are at nominal fill, rounded to 0.1 kg; can counts are rounded to whole numbers.

A single 11.5 L bucket replaces nearly forty cans: no opening them with a can opener, no hauling the empties out by the bagful. For cafes and blini shops, the sensible middle ground is 2.3 to 5.6 L: a bucket that size sits right on the prep table, and you never have to transfer the product. Small sizes up to a liter work for retail, where people buy condensed milk to go with blini, pancakes, or tea.

Thick and slow-flowing

Thick, sweet, sticky: what matters in condensed milk packaging

Condensed milk doesn't pour: it slides slowly off the spoon in a long ribbon. That's why the familiar tin can is awkward to work with: leftovers stick in the corners, the tin edge cuts fingers, and there's nothing to close an opened can with. A bucket solves all of this by design.

A spatula instead of a can opener

For Napoleon cake, Anthill cake, and oreshki (walnut-shaped cookies), pastry chefs scoop dulce de leche from the bucket with a wide spatula. The bucket opens to its full diameter and has no corners, so the product comes cleanly off the wall instead of being dug out from under a rolled tin edge. No more cuts from a sharp can rim, either.

Close it and put it back

An opened can has to be covered with plastic wrap or emptied into another container. A bucket closes with its own lid: press it down all the way around, it snaps into the double rim, and the leftover condensed milk keeps safely until the next batch.

Portions by weight

Packers care about weight, not liters: a 560 ml bucket holds about 0.7 kg of condensed milk, and a one-liter bucket about 1.3 kg. The thick product doesn't splash during filling, so it's easy to hit the portion weight on the scale at the line. Shoppers get a familiar measure, and sellers don't have to argue over grams.

Sweets under seal

A sweet product on open display practically begs to be tasted. The OPEN tamper-evident tear strip under the lid rim shows the store and the shopper whether the lid has been removed since filling. A torn strip is visible at a glance, without opening the bucket.

How to choose

Pastry chef, cafe, or retail counter

The same condensed milk sells through three different channels, and each needs its own size. Look at the handle as well as the capacity: you can carry a one-liter bucket in one hand, while a full 21 L bucket weighs almost 28 kg.

Delivery

Bucket supply for production and retail

Condensed milk is packed year-round, so it's easier to receive packaging on a regular schedule than to scramble for more when the line has already stopped. You can pick up full pallets from the factory warehouse in the Bishkek FEZ, Ak-Chiy village. Our own delivery trucks serve Bishkek and Chuy Region, and buckets go to Osh, Jalal-Abad, Karakol, Naryn, and Talas by freight carrier. Pastry producers and packers in Kazakhstan, from Almaty and Shymkent to Astana and Karaganda, receive packaging by the pallet within the EAEU. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place your order. Small buckets nest tightly: 7,200 of the 560 ml buckets fit on one pallet, so a large stock of retail packaging takes up just one or two pallets.

Questions and answers

What buyers ask about condensed milk packaging

Didn't find your answer?A sales manager replies Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Bishkek time

About 1.3 kg. A liter of condensed milk is almost a third heavier than a liter of water, so packaging is planned by product weight. The bucket holds up to 1.18 L brim-full, but it's best to leave that headspace empty so the lid seats evenly and the thick product isn't squeezed out onto the rim.

Yes, a food-grade polypropylene bucket works for both regular condensed milk and dulce de leche. Thick dulce de leche is easier to scoop from a low, wide bucket: the 3 L bucket has a 200 mm opening and stands 137 mm tall, so a spatula reaches the bottom with no effort.

A home baker usually gets by with a 2.3 or 3.8 L bucket, which holds 3 to 5 kg of product. A bakery with daily production is better off with the 11.5 L bucket with a metal bail handle and plastic grip: about 15 kg of condensed milk in one bucket.

Our sales manager prices each order based on size, quantity, handle type, color, and printing. Call +996 222 600 292 and tell us how much condensed milk you pack per month, and we'll suggest sizes and calculate the cost.

Yes, with a label applied to the finished bucket or with in-mold labeling (IML). With IML, the image is fused into the wall during molding and stays put even when sticky drips are wiped off with a sponge. Learn more on our IML buckets page.

Yes, by the pallet within the EAEU to Almaty, Shymkent, Astana, Karaganda, and other cities. Small and large buckets can be combined in one shipment, and your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order.

White is the usual pick when you're applying a label, and for regular condensed milk, which looks the same no matter who makes it. Clear buckets help sell dulce de leche: its caramel color shows through the wall and does the advertising for you.
