Halva, baklava, nougat

Packaging for halva and Middle Eastern sweets

Halva crumbles, baklava weeps syrup, nougat and sherbet fudge stick to plastic wrap, and kozinaki (seed and nut brittle) snap in the bag before they even reach the checkout. Middle Eastern sweets need rigid packaging with a tight-fitting lid that gets them home in one piece and looks good on the counter. At the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ), HTI molds food-grade buckets from 560 ml to 21 L, hexagonal containers, and a flat 750 ml tray for sweets sold by weight at the bazaar, holiday gift sets, and bulk stock for confectionery production.

Halva is cut into bars, baklava is laid out in diamonds in a single layer, and sherbet fudge is sold in bite-size pieces to go with tea. Select a sweet to see the right packaging to scale, how it's sold, and why it works. The "Per shelf" tab counts how many units fit on your counter.

Which sweet in which packaging

Middle Eastern sweets sell two ways: by weight from bulk packaging, and as ready-made portions that customers pick up off the shelf or bring along as a gift when visiting. For each product, the table shows which packaging is most convenient for the seller and why. The opening size and height help you check whether a knife, a spatula, or a neat diamond of baklava will fit.

The flat tray and low containers suit products that can't be stacked in layers: baklava and nougat stick together when the next layer presses down on them. Halva and kozinaki, on the other hand, are kept stacked upright in a 2.3-5.6 L bucket: the seller lifts the lid and cuts a piece right at the scale. Production kitchens rely on large buckets to store glucose syrup and pastes for mixing.

Fragile and sticky

Why sweets are moving from bags to buckets

Bags and cardboard boxes cost next to nothing, but with Middle Eastern sweets they fail on three counts at once: the product breaks, leaks, and loses its looks. Rigid molded packaging with a lid solves all three and doubles as display and gift packaging. Here's what changes for the shop and the confectioner.

Every piece stays whole

Kozinaki and halva crack when a bag gets squeezed in a tote or tossed into a box with other groceries. A molded bucket wall holds its shape, so customers bring home neat bars, not a handful of crumbs. That matters even more for gifts: the sweets are presented exactly as they looked when they were chosen.

No syrup on the shopping bag

Baklava and chak-chak are soaked in syrup or honey, and by the next day a bag is covered in sticky spots. The bucket lid snaps into a double rim, so the syrup stays inside and doesn't smear the products next to it on the shelf. The tray with a lid holds the diamonds in place, even in a courier's bag.

Layers on view without opening

Shoppers pick baklava by the number of layers and the nuts, and halva by the fibrous texture where it breaks. A clear bucket shows all of this through the wall, so the seller doesn't have to lift the lid for every curious passerby. The product isn't left uncovered and doesn't collect dust from the market aisle.

A gift with the confectioner's name

Before holidays and toi (family celebrations), people buy sweets in sets for guests and relatives. Your shop name and phone number go on a white bucket with a label or in-mold labeling (IML): with IML, the artwork is fused into the wall during molding and won't rub off. The bucket stays in the home as a reminder of where the treats came from.

How to choose

Bulk, shelf, or holiday gift set

The right size depends on who opens the packaging: a seller behind the counter dozens of times a day, or a customer once at home. Sales by weight need a wide opening and a handle, the shelf needs a neat, compact shape, and a gift needs room for artwork. Most shops stock two or three items and cover their whole range with them.

Logistics

Stock up on packaging before the holiday rush

Demand for halva, baklava, and chak-chak climbs before holidays and during toi season, so your buckets and trays should be in the shop before the lines form. You can pick up pallets with your own truck straight from our plant in the Bishkek FEZ, Ak-Chiy village. Our own trucks deliver to confectioners in Bishkek and the Chuy Region, and we ship to Osh, Jalal-Abad, Karakol, Talas, and Naryn via a freight carrier. Confectionery producers in Almaty, Shymkent, Turkestan, and Astana receive buckets by the pallet within the EAEU. Your sales manager confirms transit time and shipping cost when you place the order. Trays and containers are light and nest in stacks, so it pays to add them to your buckets on the same truck.

Questions and answers

Questions from confectioners and sweet sellers

Didn't find your answer?A sales manager replies Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Bishkek time

A clear 2.3 or 3.8 L bucket is the most convenient: the bar stands inside, and the seller cuts off the piece the customer wants and puts the lid right back on. Shoppers can see the halva's fibrous texture through the wall, and the product isn't left uncovered on the counter.

Yes, our buckets and trays are molded from food-grade polypropylene. Portions go into the flat 750 ml tray, where the diamonds lie in a single layer, while cafes and shops keep their stock in a 3 or 5.6 L bucket so the syrup doesn't slosh out in transit.

Choose rigid packaging that matches the size of your bars: a 1 L or 2.3 L bucket, where the bars stand in a stack. In a bag, kozinaki crack under the slightest pressure, while a bucket wall takes the impact.

Our sales manager prices each specific order: the cost depends on sizes, quantity, body color, and printing. Call +996 222 600 292, tell us which sweets you sell and in what form, and get one quote covering both buckets and trays.

Yes. Small orders are decorated with a label, and large runs with IML, where a printed film is fused into the wall during molding. You prepare the artwork together with your sales manager. Learn more on our IML printing page.

Yes, we ship buckets, containers, and trays by the pallet within the EAEU to Almaty, Shymkent, Astana, and other cities. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place your order.

Under the lid rim there's a tamper-evident tear strip embossed with the word OPEN. As long as it's intact, nobody has opened the bucket, which matters when sweets are given as gifts or sent to relatives in another city. Learn more on our tamper-evident buckets page.
