Packaging for manufacturers of household cleaning products
Most household cleaning product manufacturers use two kinds of packaging. Liquids go into jerry cans, while powders, pastes, and thick gels go into buckets. HTI Group makes both: 5 and 10 L jerry cans with screw caps and 1 to 15 L buckets. Both ship together in one delivery from the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ), ready for retail shelves, cleaning companies, and hotels in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Retail and cleaning services
Two markets, two approaches to packaging
The same formula sells in supermarkets and to cleaning companies, but each judges packaging differently. Shoppers care how it looks on the shelf and how easy it is to carry home. Cleaning crews and hotel housekeeping managers care how fast they can open it, refill a spray bottle, and put it back on the cart. Here is what manufacturers take into account.
Supermarket shelf
Shoppers choose cleaning products by the label. That is why our jerry can has a flat front panel for a label, and you can order buckets with IML (in-mold labeling). The OPEN seal on a powder bucket shows that nobody opened the lid in the store. Shoppers carry the purchase home by the handle: on the jerry can it is molded into the body, on the bucket it is a metal bail handle or a plastic handle.
Cleaning and hotels
Cleaning companies buy floor, bathroom, and glass concentrates in 10 L jerry cans and dilute them on site. The screw cap goes back on after every pour, and the stiffening ribs at the base keep the jerry can steady on a cart. For hotel laundries, powder is easier to store in an 11.5 L bucket with a lid.
Filling and packing line
Set your filler and case packing to the jerry can's dimensions: the 5 L is 240 mm tall and 163 mm wide, the 10 L is 296 mm and 201 mm. Buckets for pastes and powders fill through a wide opening, from 132.5 mm on the 1 L to 303 mm on the 15 L, with no funnel needed.
Warehouse and mixed trucks
Empty buckets nest in stacks, but jerry cans don't, so they need very different warehouse space. One pallet holds 180 jerry cans of 5 L, 100 jerry cans of 10 L, or 816 buckets of 11.5 L. These numbers let you plan a mixed truck with no extra trips.

Jerry can or bucket: a breakdown by product line
Consistency decides between a jerry can and a bucket. Anything that pours goes into a jerry can, and anything you take out with a spoon or scoop goes into a bucket. The table matches a typical cleaning product range to packaging and sales channels. The "Per pallet" column shows how many pallets a month's supply of packaging will take up in your warehouse.

Jerry cans don't nest inside each other, so a pallet holds only 180 or 100 of them, but 6,480 one-liter buckets. In a mixed shipment, jerry cans take up most of the truck.
