Plastic buckets for jam, preserves, and fruit butter

Apricot preserves from Batken and the Fergana Valley, apple butter for hand pies, and jam for puff pastries and tartlets all go into HTI food-grade buckets from 560 ml to 18 L. A liter of jam weighs about 1.33 kg, so we've converted every size into kilograms to make it easier to match your packaging order to your cooking schedule. The lid seats into a double rim, the clear body shows off the product's color, and the OPEN tamper-evident tear strip tells customers the bucket hasn't been opened.

From liters to kilograms of jam

A liter of jam weighs about 1.33 kg, so a three-liter bucket holds almost four kilograms. The tool shows net weight, gross weight with packaging, and how many grams of plastic go into each kilogram of product. Need a specific fill weight for your label? Enter the weight, and the tool will suggest the size.

How much jam a bucket holds

Processors count their harvest and output in tonnes but order packaging by the unit. This table connects the two: jam weight is calculated at 1.33 kg per liter of nominal capacity, shown alongside the grams of plastic per kilogram of product and how much jam one pallet of empty buckets will hold.

One pallet of 2.3 L buckets covers about 10 t of jam: that much takes roughly 3,270 buckets, and a pallet holds 3,300. The 2.3, 5.6, and 11.5 L sizes use the least plastic per kilogram of product, about 20-21 g. The 560 ml size comes in higher, at almost 31 g, but small packs are what you need when people buy jam to try or as a gift. Plan your stock of empty buckets around the peak week of the harvest: cooking runs nonstop then, and a top-up packaging order may not arrive in time.

Who packs it

From the orchard to the pastry display case

Preserves and jam take different routes. One is sold by the sealed bucket at the bazaar in Osh; the other is opened in a bakery kitchen and scooped down to the bottom over a couple of shifts. Size, color, and handle are chosen for that route, not for the product itself. Below are four typical situations that bring processors and pastry chefs to us.

Apricot season

In Batken, Isfana, and villages across the Fergana Valley, jam is cooked in short batches while the harvest lasts. Empty buckets nest into stacks, so a whole season's packaging takes up a corner of the warehouse rather than a separate room. Finished jam in 3 and 18 L buckets is easy to haul to the wholesale markets in Osh and Bishkek.

Bakeries and pastry shops

Fruit butter for hand pies and jam for puff pastries come in 5.6 and 11.5 L buckets. Through the 224 and 295 mm openings, bakers scoop filling with a spatula or fill a piping bag straight from the bucket. Once washed, the empty bucket often stays in the kitchen for crumbs, nuts, or powdered sugar.

Product color on the counter

A clear body shows off amber apricot preserves, cherry jam, or thick apple butter without opening the bucket. White is the choice when you want a bold, full-wall design instead of a window onto the product. Both colors are molded from the same food-grade polypropylene.

Tamper evidence you can trust

A tear-off strip marked OPEN under the rim holds the lid in place until first opening. At the market or in a store, it's simple proof that nobody has tasted the jam before the customer. On retail chain shelves, this kind of tamper evidence often matters more than the lid design.

How to choose

Which bucket to choose for jam

Jam is a third heavier than water, so choose the size and the handle together. A full 11.5 L bucket weighs over 15 kg, and a thin bail without a grip is uncomfortable under that load. The second question is who will open the bucket: a customer at home or a cook in the kitchen. Here's a quick guide by use:

1Retail and gifts: 560 ml or 1 L, about 0.74 and 1.33 kg of jam.560 ml bucket1 L bucket
2Coffee shops and small pastry shops: 2.3 L, about 3 kg of product, with a metal or plastic handle.2.3 L bucket
3A 5.6 L bucket lasts a bakery one shift, while a production kitchen is better off with 11.5 L and a plastic grip: the grip tube on the bail won't dig into your palm.5.6 L bucket11.5 L bucket
4Processors shipping to wholesalers: 18 L, almost 24 kg of jam in a single bucket.18 L bucket

Logistics

How buckets get to Batken, Osh, and Almaty

You can pick up pallets from our factory warehouse in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ), Ak-Chiy village. Our own trucks deliver to pastry shops and bakeries in Bishkek and Chuy Region. To Batken, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and other southern cities, where most apricot preserves are made, buckets go out via a freight carrier. For processors in Kazakhstan, from Shymkent to Almaty and Astana, we ship by the pallet within the EAEU. It's wise to order seasonal packaging before the apricot harvest begins, not in the middle of cooking season. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about jam buckets

Didn't find your answer?A sales manager replies Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Bishkek time

At nominal capacity, about 1.33 kg: that's what a liter of jam weighs. Brim-full, the bucket holds 1.18 L, but the top few milliliters are left empty so the lid seats without pressing on the product. The same conversion works for thick fruit butter, since the small difference in density doesn't affect your packaging order.

A bucket doesn't break, and the 5.6 L size weighs just 156 g. Once the seal is torn off, the lid comes off in one motion, and through the 224 mm opening you can scrape out filling with a spatula right to the bottom. Empty buckets don't have to be returned like glass jars; they simply nest inside each other.

For the market, most people pick the 560 ml and 1 L sizes in the clear version: customers can see the color and the berries through the wall. The OPEN tear strip under the rim confirms the bucket hasn't been opened yet. For jam to take on the road or give as a gift, there's an 800 ml size with a plastic handle.

Our sales manager prices each order individually. The price depends on size, body color, handle, and printing, so for an accurate quote, tell us the sizes and approximate quantity for the season. We can quote several sizes at once, for example 1 L for the bazaar and 11.5 L for bakeries.

Yes, by the pallet within the EAEU: to Shymkent, Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, and other cities. Within Kyrgyzstan, buckets going beyond Chuy Region ship via a freight carrier, and your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order.

You can apply a label or order IML: the image is fused into the wall during molding, so it won't rub off or peel when washed. That's handy for sticky, sugary products, since drips can be washed off the body without damaging the design.

Yes, after opening, the flat lid seats back into the double rim, so the bucket can be closed between shifts. How long the filling itself keeps is up to its manufacturer and the bakery's food technologist. A clean spatula and a closed lid protect the product from crumbs and kitchen dust.

Getting ready for apricot season?

Tell our sales manager how many tonnes of jam or fruit butter you plan to produce. We'll turn your plan into buckets and pallets and suggest which sizes to use for the bazaar and which for bakeries. Mention the body color and whether you need IML too, so the estimate is complete from the start.
