Syrups and toppings

Jerry cans and buckets for syrups and toppings

Vanilla and caramel syrup for lattes, lemonade and berry drink (mors) concentrate for the summer terrace, chocolate topping for ice cream, dulce de leche for a blini cafe. Liquids pour easily from a 5 or 10 L jerry can with a screw cap, while thick, chunky toppings are best scooped from a wide bucket. HTI makes both in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ) and ships them to syrup makers, coffee shops, and cafes in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

How to choose

Jerry can or bucket: thickness decides

A simple rule: what pours goes in a jerry can, what you scoop goes in a bucket. From there, choose the size based on how much of a single flavor you use, not the whole menu. If your syrup is filled hot, work out the filling conditions with your food technologist and test them on a trial batch of packaging.

Counting in servings

How many drinks one jerry can makes

Baristas measure syrup with a pump, but buyers order it by the liter. The table converts packaging volume into servings: 10 ml for a light flavor in a cappuccino, 20 ml for a sweet raf coffee or milkshake, 50 ml of concentrate for a glass of lemonade or berry drink. The exact dose comes from your syrup maker's recipe; these figures give you the ballpark for purchasing.

A ten-liter jerry can gives you a thousand 10 ml servings, a solid supply of one flavor for a coffee shop. With ten syrups on the menu, five-liter cans make more sense: each flavor runs out faster, and the can takes up less space under the counter. The math is the same for toppings in buckets, except the serving is taken with a spoon or ladle.

Sweet and sticky

Syrup drips, topping stretches

Sweet products have two problems: they stick to everything they touch, and they draw wasps on a summer terrace. Liquid syrup and thick topping solve these problems differently, so producers usually keep both jerry cans and buckets. Here's where each one does its job.

Pouring without puddles

Staff pour syrup from the jerry can into pump bottles, holding it by the handle, which is molded as one piece with the body. The stream from the neck is thinner than from a wide bucket, so the counter stays clean. Ribs at the base keep the body steady on the shelf under the counter.

A cap that keeps wasps out

The cap screws onto the threaded neck and closes the jerry can after every pour. On a summer terrace at Issyk-Kul or in an Almaty park, it's the easiest way to keep wasps away from the bar. A closed can doesn't smell sweet and doesn't stick to the shelf.

The flavor on a flat panel

The jerry can's front panel is flat, so a label with the flavor name goes on without wrinkles. Baristas grab the right can without looking: vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, mint. A syrup maker uses one packaging shape for the whole line and changes only the label.

Thick goes in a bucket

Salted caramel, chocolate sauce, condensed milk, and toppings with fruit pieces won't go through a jerry can's neck. For these, use 2.3 to 5.6 L buckets: the 175 to 224 mm opening fits a ladle, the lid snaps back onto the double rim, and the OPEN tamper-evident tear strip shows the cafe the bucket arrived unopened.

Logistics

A mixed shipment of jerry cans and buckets

Unlike buckets, empty jerry cans don't nest inside each other, so plan warehouse space in advance: a pallet holds 180 of the 5 L cans or 100 of the 10 L. Buckets for toppings can go in the same shipment. You can pick up your order from the factory in the Bishkek FEZ, Ak-Chiy village, and in Bishkek and across Chuy Region, we deliver with our own trucks. Coffee shops and cafes in Cholpon-Ata, Karakol, Osh, and Jalal-Abad get their packaging through a freight carrier, and syrup makers in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, and Karaganda receive it by the pallet within the EAEU. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order. For the summer lemonade season, it's smart to order packaging in spring.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about packaging for syrups and toppings

Didn't find your answer?A sales manager replies Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Bishkek time

A single coffee shop usually goes with 5 L: the can fits under the counter, and one flavor gets used up before it sits around for long. Chains and syrup makers get better value from 10 L, since the same batch needs half as much packaging.

Yes, HTI jerry cans are molded from food-grade polypropylene. For acidic lemon and berry concentrates, or if you fill hot, run a trial batch and test the product in the packaging before switching your entire output to it.

Thick caramel, condensed milk, and chunky sauces don't pass well through a jerry can's neck and cling to the walls. A bucket opens to its full diameter, so you take the topping out with a ladle or spoon and put the lid back on.

Our sales manager prices each order based on size, quantity, and printing. Call +996 222 600 292 and tell us how many flavors and liters a month you fill, and we'll include buckets for toppings in the same quote.

Yes. A label with the name, flavor, and contact details goes on the jerry can's flat front panel. For topping buckets, you can choose either a label or in-mold labeling (IML): the image is fused into the wall during molding and won't peel off when you wash away sticky drips.

Yes, by the pallet within the EAEU to Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda, and other cities. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order. A pallet holds 180 of the 5 L jerry cans or 100 of the 10 L.

No. A jerry can has a narrow neck and a molded-in handle, so it ships and stores at full volume. Topping buckets, on the other hand, nest in stacks, so a stock of them takes up almost no space next to the jerry cans.
