Toktogul sits on the Toktogul Reservoir, and fish is as much a local product here as honey from mountain apiaries and milk from summer pastures. Fish is salted and smoked, honey is extracted in summer, butter and kurt are made in advance and stored, and each product needs its own bucket with a tight lid. The go-to size for fish processors is the 15 L with a bail handle and plastic grip, and the full range of HTI buckets reaches Toktogul by freight carrier. Below, you'll find what goes into which bucket around the district and how to place an order.
Toktogul, Jalal-Abad Region: buckets across the region

Toktogul District lives off the reservoir and the pastures, and almost every local product gets packed for sale by someone. Below are HTI's 14 sizes, with examples of what people put in them by the water and up in the mountains.
Honey, butter, and cream for roadside shoppers.
Spice-cured fish, kurt, and preserves.
Salting fish, honey extraction, and feed.
Containers for fish, kaymak, and meals for travelers passing through.
Jerry cans for cooking oil and for fishermen's drinking water.
Yellow and red buckets for the hospital, rural health posts, and veterinary inspection at fish plants.

Cream and kaymak from summer-pasture farms for shoppers on the highway along the reservoir.

Mountain honey in sample sizes for passing travelers: grab the bucket by its plastic handle and take it straight to the car.

Thick homemade sour cream in small packs: the bucket with no handle sits neatly in the fridge.

Ghee from local livestock farmers: the handle is molded in one piece with the body and won't break off.

A 1 L bucket of mountain honey, about 1.42 kg, sold at roadside stands above the reservoir.

Lightly salted fish pieces in marinade for roadside cafes on the reservoir shore.

Kurt from the district's summer pastures, which visitors to the reservoir take home with them.

Spiced fish in its marinade for cafes: a ladle fits easily through the 200 mm opening.

Dried and smoked fish sold by weight in stores: the lid keeps the smell inside the bucket.

Salting a small catch at home: thanks to the plastic grip, a full bucket of brine can be carried in one hand.

Honey extraction at small mountain apiaries: about 16 kg in one bucket.

Salting fish at the plant: 16.56 L brim-full, with fish and salt in alternating layers.

Fish in brine for the markets of Bishkek and Osh, under a tight lid with an OPEN tear strip.

Compound feed and salt licks for livestock wintering in villages around Toktogul.

Single-serve fish appetizers for waterfront cafes: the 250 ml hexagonal container.

Smoked fish pieces for travelers: a 385 ml round container that keeps the smell under the lid.

Pasture-fresh kaymak and cream for the road: 400 ml in a hexagonal container.

Takeout fish soup (ukha) from a reservoir-side cafe: 550 ml round containers with tight lids.

Catch of the day, fried at a waterside cafe, to go: a 750 ml tray with a lid.

Frying oil for fish in a cafe kitchen: a 5 L jerry can with a screw cap.

Drinking water for fishermen in the boat and at camp: 10 L, molded-in handle.

Toktogul hospital: after injections, the needle stays behind the valve of the 1 L bucket.

Rural health posts in reservoir villages: ampoules and cotton wool, yellow 2.3 L with a plastic handle.

Vaccinating shepherds' children on summer pastures: syringes go through the needle remover valve.

Fish plants under veterinary inspection: hand sanitizing wipes from the dispenser lid.

Ambulance crews on the Bishkek-Osh highway: dressings after road accidents, red bucket for Class C waste (by Kyrgyz sanitary classification).

Pasture vets: supplies used to vaccinate flocks, yellow 11.2 L.

Toktogul maternity ward: everything collected during a shift goes into the yellow 11.5 L.

Toktogul outpatient clinic: a day's waste from all exam rooms in 18 L.

Waste pickups from the district are infrequent: 21 L, kept closed in a separate room.
For fish, the handle matters as much as the lid: a bucket of fish in brine is heavier than it looks. Buckets from 8 L up come with a metal bail handle and plastic grip, so you can carry a full one without wrapping a rag around your hand.
This table is built around products from Toktogul District. Besides the size, it lists brim-full capacity: for fish in brine, that matters more than nominal capacity, since the bucket is filled almost to the top.
| Product | Volume | Brim-full | Per pallet | Learn more |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bulk-salted fish | 15 L | 16.56 L | 816 | fish and caviar |
| Smoked fish by weight | 5.6 L | 5.87 L | 1,920 | fish processing |
| Home-salted fish | 8 L | 9.326 L | 840 | pickles |
| Sour cream | 850 ml | 955 ml | 7,200 | tamper evidence |
| Ghee and butter | 900 ml | 975 ml | 7,200 | butter |
| Kurt | 3 L | 3.28 L | 2,800 | kurt and cheese |
| Mountain apiary honey | 11.5 L | 12.575 L | 816 | honey buckets |
The 11.5 L and 15 L buckets stack on a pallet the same way: 816 per pallet. A farm that both salts fish and extracts honey can freely change the mix of these two sizes in its order without recalculating truck space.
The reservoir and mountain pastures give the district its three main products, and the Bishkek-Osh highway brings the buyers. Here's who orders buckets in Toktogul, and which ones. Fishermen and herders have different seasons: one needs packaging for the fishing season, the other for summer grazing, so it makes sense to plan your order around your own calendar.

Fish from the reservoir is salted in 15 L buckets: brim-full, they hold 16.56 L, with room for both fish and brine. Smoked fish sold by weight is kept in lidded 5.6 L buckets so it doesn't dry out on the counter.
In summer, livestock move up to the pastures, and farms make butter, kaymak, and kurt to store for later. Butter is packed in 900 ml buckets with a handle molded in one piece with the body, kurt in 3 L buckets, and kumis and ayran go into jerry cans.
The district's mountain apiaries pour honey into 11.5 L buckets, which hold about 16 kg, and portion it into 1 L and 800 ml buckets for sale. Roadside shoppers pick a small bucket with a handle to get the honey home.
Along the reservoir, drivers on the Bishkek-Osh highway stop for lunch. Roadside cafes need 3.8 L buckets for fish in marinade and for sauces, and 8 L for marinated meat.
The calculator converts bucket quantities into pallets. For example, a plant salting fish from the reservoir needs 1,000 of the 15 L buckets for the season, which is two pallets. If it also orders 1,500 of the 8 L buckets for home-style salted fish to sell, that adds two more.
We sell in orders of one pallet or more. The steps are the same for a fish plant on the shore and an apiary in the mountains.
Fish, butter, kurt, or honey; how many buckets and in which sizes. If you need your own label or in-mold labeling (IML), mention it on the first call.
Your sales manager will suggest sizes and handles, count the pallets, and quote a price. They'll confirm delivery time and cost to Toktogul when you place the order.
Buckets are palletized at the HTI plant in Ak-Chiy village, Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ). We have no other warehouses, so every order ships straight from the plant.
A freight carrier delivers the pallets. If you travel to Bishkek yourself, you can pick up the order at the plant on your way back.

Orders for Toktogul are packed at the HTI plant in Ak-Chiy village, Bishkek FEZ, our only warehouse. From there, a freight carrier takes the pallets south along the highway. Your sales manager confirms delivery time and cost when you place the order.
In winter, the road over the passes can be tougher, so it's wise to order packaging for spring and the summer honey harvest early, while demand is low.
Pickup is also an option: we load the pallets onto your truck at the plant, and you take it from there.
Full buckets of fish travel to markets in Bishkek and Osh, but empty buckets arrive in Toktogul nested in stacks. So a pallet of empty buckets takes up far less truck space than the same buckets once they're filled.

Fish and butter don't do well in open packaging, and highway shoppers want to see what they're buying. That's what drives the choice of version.
The lid snaps into the double rim all the way around and seals a bucket of fish in brine tight on its way from the shore to the plant.
In a clear body, honey, butter, and kurt are on full view for roadside shoppers. Every bucket in the range comes in clear, from 560 ml to 21 L.
Salted fish headed for markets in Bishkek and Osh reaches the buyer with the tear strip under the rim still intact: a sign the bucket hasn't been opened since filling.
A fish plant or apiary can put its name on the bucket: with a label for the first order, or with IML for ongoing runs.

Call the HTI plant at +996 222 600 292 or request a callback. Buckets are sold in orders of one pallet or more, and your sales manager will pick sizes for fish, dairy, or honey and work out delivery.
For a processing plant, the 15 L with a metal bail handle and plastic grip; for home salting, the 8 L. For a detailed breakdown, see our buckets for fish and caviar page.
Your sales manager calculates the price for your order. It depends on quantity, color, handle, and printing; the cost of shipping to Toktogul is quoted separately when you place the order.
Timing and cost depend on the order and are confirmed when you place it. A freight carrier makes the delivery, or you can pick up the buckets from the plant yourself.
HTI's only warehouse is at our plant in Ak-Chiy village, Bishkek Free Economic Zone. We have no warehouses in Toktogul or other towns in the region; every order ships from the plant.
Yes. Butter packs well in the 900 ml, kurt in the 3 L, and both sizes come in clear. More on our buckets for kurt and cheese page.
Kumis and ayran go into 5 L and 10 L jerry cans with screw caps rather than buckets. See our kumis and ayran jerry cans page.
Yes, with a label or IML. With IML, the image is fused into the wall during molding and won't come off in the wash; you approve the artwork with your sales manager.
Product pages for every size are in the catalog. Demand across the region is covered on our Jalal-Abad Region page, and neighbors farther down the Naryn have their own Kara-Kul page.

Tell us your product and how many buckets you use in a season. Your sales manager will pick the sizes and explain how your order will get to Toktogul.
